The Moonstar Low Trainer Black Mono is a refined take on classic 1970s athletic footwear, combining vintage design with the precision of Japanese craftsmanship.
Handmade in Kurume, Japan, these sneakers are produced using the traditional kiln-fired vulcanization process – a time-intensive technique mastered by only a few factories today. Each pair is fired for approximately 70 minutes at 120°C, creating a strong, permanent bond between the upper and the rubber sole. The result is a sneaker that is flexible, durable, and built to maintain its shape over time.
The design stays true to its athletic roots, featuring period-correct details such as reinforced eyelets for added strength, patch cloth construction, and side stitching typical of vintage training shoes. The Black Mono colorway offers a clean, understated look, making it easy to pair with a wide range of outfits – from casual to more refined workwear styles.
Lightweight yet robust, the Low Trainer delivers everyday comfort while retaining a structured, long-lasting feel. Backed by over 150 years of shoemaking heritage, Moonstar continues to produce footwear that blends tradition, functionality, and timeless design.
Fit Notes: Moonstar sneakers generally run slightly large. We recommend sizing down one size, especially if you are between sizes or prefer to wear them with thinner socks. In most cases, you will need to go one size down from your usual UK/US size. If you have wider feet, you may prefer to stay with your usual size for a more comfortable fit.
